Urban commons expert Iolanda Bianchi at USI

How did urban commons develop from social practices to collaborative governance arrangements? USI’s new visiting scholar Iolanda Bianchi will elaborate on this process in a lunch seminar on Wednesday 9 October, in collaboration with CCQO. Her research focuses on alternative forms to satisfy fundamental rights in the city, using commons as a theoretical framework.

RC21 will come to Antwerp in 2020

The Urban Studies Institute will host the next RC21 conference at the University of Antwerp, 6-8 July 2020. The Research Committee 21 on Urban and Regional Development is part of the International Sociological Association (ISA) and was established to promote theory and research in the sociology of urban and regional development.

The Call for Papers for the EAUH2020 conference (Antwerp, 2-5 September 2020) is extended to 27 October 2019. Papers need to be aimed at a specific session. Sessions are categorized in 11 themes ranging from culture to urbanization.
