EARTHRACE

Well we have some super-awesome news.  Just recently we signed up a syndicate of big hitters to fund a patrol vessel for us.  This will be working against illegal driftnets, as well as continuing our campaigns to train and work with fisheries enforcement teams.  We’re super close to actually buying a boat, and will be letting you know about that and volunteer opportunities within a week or two.

Also in this issue, we bring you the video of a vessel we caught a while ago in the Philippines using the most destructive fishing method we’ve ever seen, as well as video of a legendary Manta Ray we filmed in the South China Sea…  Click on the links below!

Here’s the story on how we secured funds for a new patrol boat.  And you’ll be surprised how we did it. (It wasn’t by calling Richard Branson, or by selling merchandise).     click here for details

We saw these guys in a Marine Reserve but things didn’t add up.  They had caught all these baby fish but no signs of them being hooked or speared.  Their answer blew us away.  Here is the video.  To follow all the news on this then subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
We had heard about this legendary Manta Ray spotted in the South China Sea.  Locals called him the “Stormtrooper”.  Well I assume it was a “he”, but could also be a “:she”.  Amazingly, we got to swim with him (or her) a short time ago!  Here is the epic video.

We’ll be heads down and bums up over the next few months, finalizing the purchase of a vessel, and then refitting her for a new role in fisheries enforcement.  So don’t be disappointed if we’re not actually running missions for a while – We’re preparing for them!  I hope you are well Georges and winning a few battles.

Kind regards

Captain Pete Bethune
